Behavior of anions in association with metal ions under hydrometallurgical environments: Part II — Effects of Cl-, Br-, I- and CN-

Minerals & Metallurgical Processing , 2014, Vol. 31, No. 1, pp. 40-47

Kim, R.; Cho, H.C.; Han, K.N.

ABSTRACT:

As an extension of the work on the effect of OH- on various cations in hydrometallurgical systems, the effect of Cl-, Br-, I- and CN- on cations such as Ag+, Cd2+, Hg2+, Cu+, Cu2+, Co2+, Zn2+, Pb2+ and Sn2+ has been examined in detail. The Newton-Raphson technique has been used to determine the amounts of various metal species as a function of the concentration of anions. Some practical implications of various metal complexes in metal separation and removal from solutions have been examined and discussed.
